Maybe the kids can have visitation rights, or the owner can.

If this was a sitcom or comic strip, they could put the family at one end of a room and Ray at the other, with Mortimer in the middle and let him decide.

Maybe Ray can move into the spare room and they can hare the dog. Although, with four kids, they probably don’t have a spare room, come to think of it.

Now you understand why some steal. .Others own what you want and won’t give it to you or sell it cheaply enough for you to buy. .Some even get angry at the “greedy” people who won’t just give it to you (or more often them). They maintain they would more generous ~ but seldom are. .Fight your baser desires. Don’t steal.
