I don’t know where people come up with the low number of jobs this will provide. It is not just pipeline jobs, there are also jobs in the power companies that supply power to the pump stations, contractors that will continue to be employed for many years to come working on infrastructure related to the pipeline, etc. And there is also millions of gallons of this “dirty” Canadian oil already coming to US refineries right now. It is not being exported from the US. Every argument Obama uses against this pipeline is a complete lie.

YOu mean those 35 permanent jobs actually provided by the pipeline?

We had a gas pipeline come through, bunch of folks built up business to handle all the construction workers, then they all went bankrupt six months after completion of the line when all those temporary workers left.

Pipeline jobs are a pig in a poke, period.

Bok is a dunderhead regarding the economic benefits of the Keytone pipeline. Also, apparently he hasn’t noticed the global and domestic oil prices which make tar sand oil too expensive to mine and extract.

Obama usually does the right thing. Not this time. A purely political decision in a pander to his base.
