I’ve done it a couple of times and it is getting time to go in for another shearing. For any who might want to consider it themselves and don’t already know - The hair has to be at least 8 inches long in the sections that get donated. At least that is the rule for accepting donations in this area.
I’m so amazed! Is Bill actually putting Pediatric Cancer on the radar? I follow so many little heros on carepages and caringbridge and their plight is usually over shadowed by the big cancers (breast, colon, lung). To give the little ones a platform is beyond wonderful!.

I know of a 10 year old boy who grew his hair past his shoulders so he could donate. This was after losing his 4 year old brother to Medulloblastoma (a brain cancer). A year later his mom (who’s hair was down her back) had her head shaved at a St. Baldrick’s event.
On the other hand…it’s going to be really strange not seeing Abby with that ponytail!

my boss’ son did the same thing. he’d let it grow for 7 years (half his life) and it was well past his shoulders when he got the trim. i believe there were six (may have been four) pony tails donated. i agree it’s a great thing to do if you can. haven’t worn hair long enough in ages, but i donate blood regularly so i help where i can.
I just wish my hair would grow long enough to donate. Unfortunately, I inherited genes for fairly short hair (barely touches my shoulders, even with only getting about 1/2 inch trimmed off once a year.)
I do think it is a wonderful thing Abby did, but it will be difficult to get used to her new look.
