I actually look forward to the Halloween gear coming out just because I know the Christmas stuff is never far behind. Commercialism? Maybe, but that doesn’t stop me from loving the whole season, tacky plastic and all.
Every year since I can remember, people make this complaint as if it’s some recent trend, and “it didn’t use to be that way.” But I’m 59, and it’s been that way all my life. There was a gag in PEANUTS about it back in the 60s. Yes, it’s obnoxiously commercial. But it’s not new.
