Quick recovery there, Heart….unfortunately, you won’t be able to play ‘half-ball’ from that stool in the corner…

I didn’t think they still played halfball in the Philadelphia area. I played it throughout my childhood. You only need 2 players, one to pitch and one to hit. The game has to be played on a city street lined with row houses on either side. The pitcher throws from the curb across the street to the batter who stands on the opposite sidewalk. The bat is a broomstick handle. Hit the ball to the opposite curb for a single, in the air to the opposite sidewalk is a double, in the air hittting the opposite house is a triple and if you hit the ball to the opposite roof you have a home run. The best players hit opposite three story buildings to make homers harder to get. Skillful pitchers can make the halfball curve in any of 8 directions. Games go so quickly that we used to play a dozen games a day in the summer.
