The conservatives don’t seem to have much trouble sendng people off to die in wars. How do they square that with their opposition to birth control? Are they concerned that they won’t have enough bodies to fill the ranks?
I don’t think this should be a politcal issue, but, when you ask the people: http://www.gallup.com/poll/183434/americans-choose-pro-choice-first-time-seven-years.aspx
This attack on the use of fetal tissue is just a way to attack abortion in general. There is a fundamental split in modern society between those who believe that a fetus is a person and those who don’t. I don’t see a way to resolve the dispute. I do know that abortions will happen no matter what the law is.
idk where Republican lawmakers want aborted babies to end up, but as a conservative I want an end to the legalized murder of humans. And any who die before birth to be respectfully buried, cremated, etc.
btw, for those who say a zygot or embryo or fetus isn’t human, check the DNA. You won’t find the DNA of a duck, ant or dandelion, but of a human being. It’s no less human than you.
Sperm and ovum are both “living human cells”, which is why the Bible must ban a man “spilling his seed”, they obviously considered that sperm a human, right?
My nephew and his wife had triplets through IVF; when all the parents having the procedure at that hospital had a reunion when the kids were four years old, my nephew and his wife had only one of two sets of mulitple births, out of over 150, who did NOT have SERIOUS birth defects in any of their kids. Implanting those numerous embryos (often as many as six), then refusing to abort any during the pregnancy does lead to serious problems.
Giving billions to terrorist regimes? How much do conservatives want the government to give to countries that sponsor terrorism? A lot more than progressives do.
I imagine that the labs have done some life saving work using the cells. It isn’t good to have abortions, but sometimes it is the humane thing to do, like if the baby has complications that are incompatable with life, like born without a brain or a cyclops.True we haven’t seen much about radiation mutation here yet, but with what is still happening ever faster at Fukushima we will be. radiation mutation.Well I guess a cyclops could maybe live, but what else are children exposed to radiation in utero going to be like?Around Chernobyl and Fukushima there are lots of badly mutated kids that live their short lives in hospitals.
If you pay Close Attention to the Policies they support, you discover that where Most Conservatives want to see those babies go is to the nearest Homeless Campground and, ultimately, either to jail or working in a Sweatshop as Child Labor.Or, for some Conservatives, working in a Prison Sweatshop as Child Labor … .Because the Sins of the Mother will be visited upon the Child, unto the 7th Generation..I think is says that in the bible, somewhere….
Northern Redman: glad we can agree. Also Hiram ^bingham; as, philosophically, more Buddhist than anything else, I RESPECT ALL LIFE, NOT just “human” life. That does NOT mean I’m vegan, but I do respect and give thanks to those animals, and plants, that sustain life, wether feeding lions, sheep, or humans, it IS the natural cycle of life. Quantum mechanics also seems to confirm in science much of what the Buddha taught, and the Dalai Lama has been very adept at pointing out.
Science and “faith” do NOT have to be separate, quite the opposite, it is when that “faith” fails to recognize that, that it is the FAITH that fails.
The one outstanding thing that denies the sanctity of life, especially humans, but all life is abused as well, is WAR! ANY war fought for “faith”, is for a false faith.
^Some of that difference is when “politics” refuses to accept science, and morality, when starting those wars, or caring about the health of the planet, instead of profit. Which, regulated Capitalism, with a viable aim of social responsibility is a good thing, but that’s not where current folks in a radicalized Republican Party are aiming.
RADICALISM, not “religion”, or “politics”, per se, is the problem.

50% of fertilized ovum, never attach, so are they all “humans”?
Abortion shouldn’t be used as birth control, but objecting to birth control, IS pretty inhuman ignorance, and violence toward actual humans.
Research to save thousands, or more, human lives, makes more sense than the trash.

Republicans need to believe in science and Democrats need to believe in capitalism.

Are you referring to Iran getting their own money back? Isn’t that quite a different thing?
