Ms. Thomas said what many, maybe most, Americans are thinking.

Her exit was certainly spectacular.

Sometimes the Truth will not set you free, it will probably get you fired.

The World is a mess, and there are no simple soluations, so let’s just accept it, and keep trying – the other choice is worse.

As a poet put it 2,000 years ago “We learn to live together, or we will die together!”

Germany occupied France for four years under HItler. South Lebanon was occupied by Israel for over twenty years, and notably destroyed during three major invasions since Israel was created by the U.N.

Maybe having ties to Lebanon might have given Ms. Thomas a more accurate perspective.

She was quite correct that modern Israel is a nation of immigrants, a large number totally unwilling to coexist with their neighbors.

The Roma did not get a country, nor any others persecuted during the “holocaust”, a terrible event that did indeed happen as the west, notably a bunch of “sympathizers” in the U.S. did nothing to protect trade unionists, mental patients, Poles, Jews, Roma, or merely political opponents.

We can’t justify saying “Mexicans go home”, if Helen doesn’t have the right to say “Europeans and Americans who came to this area, go BACK home.”

No peace in the Middle East any time soon.

A while ago, when it was between states, peace was possible. Not anymore. Religion is too involved. Peace involves compromise, there is no compromise possible in religion; a dogma is a dogma.

Ms.Thomas has elevated herself from venerable institution to world class commentator.

Her observations are enhanced by, not only her long, extraordinary career, but her background as well.
