I’ve actually been in a big, fancy bank built over a century ago with gorgeous marble, brass and sculptural decoration all over the place, where they had only one teller staffing the enormous counter.
How many readers of this toon actually walk into a bank even once a month? Paychecks are auto deposited. We get cash at the ATM. We shop w credit cards. We pay our bills on line. Seems the service may be matching the need.
I refuse to eat their food, but I drove up to a McDonald’s a while ago to get a cup of coffee. After ordering, I drove to the window and paid for the coffee. I waited, then asked, “Where’s my coffee?”
She replied, “You need to go to the next window.”
I asked, “Could I pay there; after all, it’s just a cup of coffee; I’m not ordering an entire banquet!”
She replied, “I don’t make the rules, please go to the next window!”
