My mother shopped year ‘round – usually at yard sales & consignment shops – for Christmas gifts. She kept a surplus in the basement, divided by category: men, women, etc. The first Christmas my husband & I spent together my mom gave him an Old Spice gift box. My hub received it graciously, but I piped up & said, “Mom…Old Spice makes him sneeze.” Much to my husband’s horror, my mom took him by the hand down to the basement & told him that he could pick something instead. Yeah, my mom had a great “return policy”…no receipt needed. LOL
