My grandmother made prom dresses for my mom and her older sister coordinating prom dresses, Mama in pale green, Aunt Vicky in pale yellow. Frothy chiffon numbers, as were popular in the mid-50’s. She then painted their portrait. When my mom passed, we found the painting in her closet, and gave to grandma’s remaining child, our uncle. He wept such tears of joy. He’s promised to give it back to me when his time has come, so I can display it in my home. I treasure that memory.
Lovely portrait. But he’ll have a hard time painting a portrait of his client’s children if they’re very young. It’s boring to sit holding the same position for very long, and for a little child, impossible.
