i trust people know that more than one african country promotes this sort of hunting. it provides an otherwise rare income stream which is (ostensibly) used to promote, preserve and protect the other animals in those countries.

That man needs to 1) donate $55,000 he spent watching that lion bleed to death (40 hours) and never looking through a scope or binoculars to notice the collar until after it was dead and he had to cut its head off to hide the evidence and secure the trophy, and 2) talk to the nice people from Fish and Wildlife who are looking for him. I’m waiting to see if the corrupt government of Zimbabwe is going to request his extradition to stand trial alongside the guide they’ve arrested.

These “pay for prey” hunts are now falling out of favor even as fundraisers in most countries when involving those “big five” trophy animals. When millions of dollars worth of ivory are being burned to try to stop the sale of poached ivory, they’re getting serious. When Rangers are getting killed to protect their animals, and the’ve waged literal war on poachers, killing them, they’re getting serious.

Plamer was busted before for a similar type of poaching for bear, he’s scum, and a repeat criminal, a poacher, not a hunter.

When the objective of capitalism is to convert EVERYTHING into money, it has devolved into a form of death-worship.

I don’t suppose they could just donate it without murdering anything?
