Mornin’ Cappers !Today’s strip reminds me of something that happened to me many, many years ago. My first wife and I lived in Ireland for a couple of years. I had fly back to the States because of work. She followed about a month later by ship.Long story short , after we’d divorced, I had occasion to return to Dublin on business. I was a bit leery or being there as a “divorced man” – Ireland in those days being a lot more conservative.I needn’t have worried. It was like I’d never left. Everyone just assumed I’d been out of town for a while ( 2 years ! ) and thought nothing about my marital status. In fact, the owner of one of my favorite haunts in Dublin, Neary’s Pub, called me aside and politely presented me with the bar tab my ex had run up prior to her return to the States !I paid it, grudgingly: telling the publican that this was the reason I’d divorced !

Can there possibly be a greater wastrel and layabout on the planet?

From somebody who has never dated in her life, I can honestly say that looking at Andy Capp makes me glad that I’m single.xxx
