While I ended up spending roughly a decade in law enforcement, and years more enforcing laws but without arrest authority, my wife always said as our kids grew up: “Do NOT tell them what you got away with as a kid!”
I recognized what Obama was saying, having seen hundreds of cases of kids who did NOT get away with things. The system is right-wing conservative shaped, punitive, expensive, and out of control, especially because of Privatizing the jail and prison industry, and making laws to profit THEM!
BTW: cigarettes, beer, and booze are the dangerous gateway drugs, far more than pot. Prescription drugs are also manufactured FAR in excess of legitimate use, and go to the black market, and are also far worse than marijuana.
