The New York State Thruway was suppose to be a toll road only until it was paid for…That was June 24th 1954 from Lowell to Rochester. It’s still a toll road not a freeway.
The Dallas – Ft. Worth tollroad, back in the ’50s was the last to pay off and go free (now part of I 30). All since then will remain tolls, which are sent to Spain.
