Who’s on First?

Thanks for the kind comments so far. HEY! Here’s a thing! Did you guys know that there’s a “throw away panel” for that toon and every other “DH” Sunday comic, which GoComics doesn’t publish? I mention it, because it’s particularly relevant with this Sunday’s offering. A “throw away” panel, for those of you who do not know, is a little ditty at the front of all “DH” Sunday toons. It compliments— but is designed to work independently from— the main Sunday comics so newspapers can use it if they have room, or chuck it if they don’t… hence the name. You can always click the “CREATORS” button on the right bottom of this page to see the unedited version of any “DH” Sunday comic. I swear! Try it.

Sweet! I’m a bit of a fan of the throw-aways. They’re a bit like dessert – not strictly necessary – but with the bonus of getting them before the meal. :)

Tony, thanks for letting us know. Please let us know in the future when it’ll add to the comic. I know I won’t remember to click on it every week.

I think that cartoonists who don’t change them are lazy. I’m talking to YOU, Scott Adams (Dilbert) and Bill Amend (Foxtrot)! Bill especially, since he’s only doing one a day anyway. Both of these guys get their full strips run with the throw-aways in most papers and still can’t be bothered to do something creative there.

Oh, and hey! I think your header above the strip on this site is the best one on GoComics!

This one already gave me a giggle (which I needed because I just realized I was stitching a shoe inside out and have to remove all my stitches). It IS even better with the extra panel. I wonder why the site choses to leave it off.

And the header IS great - reminds me what was done in “Gay Puree” the movie with Judy Garland and Robert Goulet.

Thanks about the header Vid and Grom. I had fun doing it. One of the few chances I get to do the art myself. I will remind you about the Throw Away, Grom, Gary and I agree it should be new each week. It takes more time, but who cares. It’s not “work”… it’s “cartooning, right?

I looked for throw-away links on a few other cartoons here but found none-shame. Art in all forms IS always fun. I’ve re-started my shoe and they WILL be lovely (especially for my “first” pair). I work in many media ;-D
