My ‘91 SUV can do everything I need it to on road and off, and is now TINY compared to today’s pickups and SUVs. My “crossover” does well in off highway, but isn’t a rock climber. Both get over 25 mpg. My Lotus gets 35 mpg, but ain’t ever going off road (on purpose, my spouse tried that years ago, didn’t work well and a long process to rebuild the entire car.), and it will fit in the bed of those new pickups.

The problem is all those huge vehicles that at most are only in 1% of them, ever used in a manner requiring that much vehicle.

BTW; my scooter runs errands at 65 MPG, and even building it did provide jobs!
