“A place for everything and everything in its place” works well in preventing this problem. Just sticking in whatever space you see is the cause. Unfortunately, my wife has never decided where the bread should be (on the door, lower left shelf, behind something so it is not visible, freshening in the freezing compartment, in the big freezer out in the garage, someplace totally new and unexpected, etc.). Then she wonders why I can’t just reach in and get it.
