I raced through your comment since you’re also a man who doesn’t believe in commas but this stopped me: "and own a gun or two. "

A gun or two? You’re not sure? Why not? That’s a tad troubling. Can you go make sure?

John Wayne, though a fine actor, was a virulent racist of the highest order. Read a real biography. While I am a 61yr old white male with a wife of 33 years, three adult children and vote in elections. I had a grandfather who gave up guns because he accidentally shot a friend once, but allowed hunting on his farm. I have worked for over 20plus years with the victims of domestic violence and drug abuse. I am vilified by yours as a bleeding heart do-gooder because I actually practice what Jesus preached. We can all play victims here Jeffy.

Now had there been an armed Sheepdog to protect the helpless flock, (or even an armed sheep), the death toll might have been significantly lower.Laws do not deter violence. The threat of violence in return deters violence. This is basic human nature. Ignore all the “brotherhood of man” wishful thinking and study anthropology. Humans are a violent species. Always have been, always will be. Passing a law does not solve anything as murder has been outlawed for longer than guns have been around.

You might want to do some actual research on Australian violent crime rates.Real research. Not just reading whatever the newsfolk are throwing out to the masses.

There’s no legal reason to bar congregation members from carrying guns.Legal reason? Maybe not. Moral reasons why an actual Christian would not want to carry a tool designed to kill humans, especially in a House of God? Plenty.

I never said that I had done “real research” I suggested that he do so. My step-brother worked for the Innisfail police dept. for several years and it is his experiences that I base my suggestions on.However. As usual, when someone points out a fact that you don’t like, such as those poor folks inability to protect themselves being a factor in their deaths, you, (and your kind), try to divert attention away from it by going off on some unrelated tangent like “where’s your research?”If you truly believe that taking firearms away from lawful folk will result in a safe society you are beyond delusional. All that will do is make the old, weak, small or otherwise helpless people victims of the young, strong and violent.Don’t take my word for it.Look around at the real world.Face it for what it is instead of what we might wish it to be.It is not a nice place. The subject we are debating is proof of that.

They weren’t “Legally Barred”.They were In Church and saw no Need for Guns while they were Praying..I wonder what the Reich Wingers would say if a Black Congregation did suddenly decide to come to church Armed and one Sunday morning, a bunch of them Blow Away some random White guy who wanders into their Church. Will they Cops accept:“We were in Fear for Out Lives because he looked like a Klansman.” ???.
