So, so. I hate twisted values and violence especially! But it exist some beautiful works in popular culture, too, I pick them out and sometimes I do it, to earn money, but not works of violence and hatred. I’m in anger when they show so much blood and disgusting things in theatre!!

It was the strips like this one that made me think I understood why Watterson retired: he said all that he wanted to say and was exhausted.

No art merely reflects culture. It always helps to shape it as well.

To view the following strips in the archive and help GoComics generate revenue, please click on the blue archive links below. To view the strips directly, click on the images below or stretch them. Here is an early strip where Calvin and Hobbes appear younger and cuter:Calvin and Hobbes (June 19, 1986)It would appear that the Calvin and Hobbes strip that I just posted was inspired by the following Peanuts strip. However, it probably wasn’t. The Peanuts strip was in the newspapers in 1952, and Bill Watterson was born in 1958. It is a Sunday Peanuts strip that wasn’t published in books until 2004 when the first volume of “The Complete Peanuts” finally came out, and after Calvin and Hobbes ended in 1995. Probably, these two strips were inspired independently by a universal childhood theme.Peanuts (August 10, 1952)

I have to admit, I really liked Kill Bill one and two, about as violent as you can get.

@LeadingEdge: Do your favorite movies include honest soldiers with perfect eyesight? That way you could also get vision and integrity.

Tarrantino’s best movie, in my opinion, was the least violent. Jackie Brown.

I watch films to be entertained. If I look over the info on a new film, and I don’t think I will be entertained, I don’t watch it. This is not to say some films I wouldn’t consider 20-30 years ago, I now find quite entertaining!

A film does not need violence or non-stop action to entertain me; but it does help…
