The industry has already been working on not just more efficient engines, but looking at electric power for airplanes as well. The problem is that technology can’t keep ahead of population growth and demand for more consumption, not just in airlines, but across the board. That is why conservation is the key, and that is possible, but might decrease profits in that limited “energy” sector monopoly that controls pretty much ALL sources of energy. Note please how oil companies are now bragging about their entry into “alterntives”, so they can control those too..
