It is more funds, just earmarked for one specific purpose. I can think of many better places to spend more money in schools, but “security” is sexy for conservatives.

After horrific school shootings the public calls for safer schools. A liberal’s answer is gun free zones. Problem is nut cases love gun free zones. A GFZ gives them a guaranteed amount of time to pull off their plan (plug in police response time in your area). A conservative’s response is to harden schools so there is little to no “safe” time to carry out the attack. Of course this also fits the liberal’s idea of how to fix schools. We need more money so we can do more of the stuff that is not working to teach our kids. While conservatives suggest that maybe we should rethink what we’re doing and do more effective stuff with the money we’re already spending.

Such a simple, easy to understand issue. Good thing we don’t have to elect our best and brightest each election.Correlation does not imply causation and both sides seem unwillingly to find a solution but cling to their beliefs.http://crimepreventionresearchcenter.org/2014/03/comparing-murder-rates-across-countries/

“Several of the worst school shootings had ARMED GUARDS.”The “Gun Free Zone” myth is popular with the folks who think the 2nd Amendment should let them have an M1 Abrams in the garage for protection when they need to go to the mall.In almost every case, shooters went to whatever place they associated with their grievances. Australia has been a gun free zone for 17 years, with no mass shootings, compared to 13 in the 18 years prior.Best stick with the 2nd Amendment Argument, guys. The actual facts stacked against the “benefits” of gun ownership are pretty overwhelming.

But, but, guns are the answer to every problem, if only we could admit it.

America spends the most money per pupil than ANY other country in the World except for Switzerland.

Oh and Washington DC spends more than any state in America per student. Good luck if you’re gonna send your kid to one of those crappy schools. So maybe just raising taxes even higher and spending more isn’t the answer? How about we cut out all the government waste the Democrats love to push?

The Philadelphia School District has an annual budget of over three BILLION dollars, and is one of the worst systems in the country. Just spending more is clearly not the solution.

A Huge part of the problem is all those “Unnecessary” classes in things like Art, Music, Theater, etc. that Conservatives keep fighting to eliminate from the schools..Those were the classes the Kids Enjoyed so they Had to Go.Can’t have kids Enjoying anything. Jeebus Wouldn’t Approve, so say the Fundies..The problem is that Those classes were the only reason many of those kids bothered to Study..Because, in most schools, if you were flunking your Other subjects, you didn’t get to sign up for the Fun Elective Classes..At least that’s how it worked in My High School.Of course, in those days, you couldn’t play Football, Baseball or Basketball either if you didn’t keep a B Average. And the Teachers actually Enforced that rule instead of ignoring the “Ringer” taking the exams for the Jocks.…
