Well, in 1939 the majority of people outside the science community didn’t understand the atom, just new enough that it couldn’t be a threat. In 1945 it was proved the atom was dangerous. Those who wanted progress at all cost said, "oh,no, we can dig new harbors with the atom, setting off bombs, among other uses, is okey dokey, just like reactors won’t melt down if there’s profit to be made.
Profit, not logic or science is the driving force of denial, period. It’s also interesting to note that deniers think “long range planning”, means for tomorrow afternoon, not beyond.
If disaster takes a decade to arrive, it’s beyond their comprehension, just as they’yre ignorant that for the last four decades and beyond, Man’s impact on the environment, including climate, has been documented and well known.
Let’s see… There are 7 posts on this page. 6 are intelligent, thoughtful, and grammatically correct. 1 is from some guy that can’t put a thought into a sentence and thinks that ‘quo’ is spelled ‘qu’. I believe that I shall stand with the supporters of Mr. Nye, thank you.
Payne must be nuts. There isn’t an national academy of science in the world that disputes the fact of global warming due to use of fossil fuels. To promote denial it at this point is to be the agent of hysterical “conservatism”.

Lets take a look at the history of mankind…
Lets count all the times that the Scientific community said “x is true”, and the deniers said “no, no, no, you are wrong”.
How many times have the scientists been wrong?
Over 90% of the scientific community is confident that climate change is a real threat…
But they must be wrong… you know just like they were wrong about the earth being round, and smoking causing cancer…

The Koch Bros. must be slipping Payne significant checks. There’s no other believable reason for this.
