I am not defending the Pres here, but I doubt that he thought up this latest scheme. It was probably conceived by those who want it, and now have their people writing it up. Obama is just going along with it. It’s NAFTA Plus, all over again!

God bless Senator Warren and her crew, who stopped it.

The sword between the bull’s shoulder blades was the “fast track authority”, not so much the remaining content related to actual “trade”.

The president admits that the benefits of the TPP will be “unevenly distributed”, meaning that more people will lose their jobs and see them go to Asia. Also, multi-nationals will be able to use courts in countries where they have more control and require that the US pay them if they are “damaged” by having to meet US labor or environmental regulations. This thing is a big screw-over for the American people, and you can see from that why it’s so secret. Urge your senators to oppose it – they probably won’t but do what you can.

Ahab; the folks in Bophal have a pretty good idea of how those nice American companies like Union Carbide treat them thar’ foreigners. There ARE reasons besides salaries why American companies locate overseas, or just over in Mexico.
