Remember that the Far Right and Conservatives don’t really want to be safe, and for everything to be alright, they just want someone in charge who will tell that.
Bush and Obama: immigration, bail outs, spending….no real difference between the two.
But when it comes to defence, it always stronger under a republican who loves and respects the military and a democrat who doesn’t. Everyone knows that, from homegrown terrorists to terrorist nations.
…actually, straytski, your argument doesn’t really hold water. The last several wars we’ve been involved in were started under Republican administrations (Iraq, Afghanistan, Iraq again, Panama, Grenada) Each time, the wars have highlighted the weaknesses in our Cold War military structure relative to a small and mobile guerilla threat.
Just tossing a pile of money at the military doesn’t make it strong. We have the largest military spending on the planet, by far. Multiple times our closest competitor. And yet, we remain enmired after almost nine years, in a third world nation, fighting a group of fanatical (but surprisingly well-armed) guerillas.

Let’s see which former Republican president cut VA benefits in the middle of a war… two wars actually?
