The toon is absolutely correct. Limbauciles are uniting. Listening to the “Lush” show is getting even stranger than his fiction ever stated before–truly remarkable ignorance and insanity at levels never approached before- even by Heinlein, NIven, or Serling. Maybe he’s back on OxyContin, or should be???
I don’t listen to Rush. Has he said the CIA bombed the rig at the President’s request yet? There is rumor saying it was done deliberately for any number of reasons, none of which made sense.
trout, the reason for that is that Heinlein, Serling, and Niven wrote science fiction that required some degree of verisimilitude, especially to convince their readers. No such limitations on Rush!
I don’t listen to Rush. I think he is over the top. I also don’t listen to Malloy and Schultz. (atleast to get news - for laughs - that we can discuss some other day)
Having said that, are you guys saying that Federal inactivity had nothing to do with the situation getting out of control? Let me see - Obama made speeches to Wall Street, threatened business owners, made videos asking people to get into the campaign mood, made speeches about the financial reform bill, and traded funny lines with Jay Leno - during the first 10 days of the disaster. Hmmm…he must have spent a lot of time trying to formulate a strategy to save wildlife/sealife and contain the spill between the other peripheral activities.
Former NOAA oil spill response coordinator Ron Gouguet speculates that burning (using fire booms) could have captured 95 percent of the oil as it spilled from the well. Really? Wow.
Now I know who’s responsible. Bush/Cheney and their promotion of capitalism.
Norway’s State owned oil company spent an extra $500K on valves that shut off the flow of oil when this kind of accident occurs. This is one of the reasons they have an exemplary safety record.
“The US Mines and Minerals Service, under the industry-friendly Bush administration, decided that rigs operating in American waters need not install those switches because they are “very costly.” At $500,000 per switch, they now look like an enormous bargain, of course.”
