I had heard of rent-a-cops, but pay-to-be-a-cop? The UK also has volunteer Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) but erm, they don’t quite pay to be one. And unarmed, of course.On the other hand, I think there are issues with the trained police, too. Who are, for the most part in the UK, unarmed as well!Which might explain the huge disparity in number of deaths in custody this side of the pond.
36 cops killed while on duty, so far, this year alone. Cops deal daily with bad people, the worse the neighborhood, the more they come in contact with. Being well trained saves lives, on both sides.
