Video also shows Scott being “non-agressive”, and the cop being polite, but Scott does take off running from a possible GTA situation, no evidence he has a right ot be driving the car.

Cameras can help, especially when sound is included, protect both “the innocent” civilian, AND “the innocent” cops as well. I’ve had lots of perps come up with lies to get out of prosecution, and yes some violent actions on their part that brought appropriate response from me. I’d never have been bothered by cameras working. Hmm, the naked guy I had to wrestle down because he was on multiple drugs, and attacked a girl, might have been photo subject for a couple hundred bystanders.HE might have had a problem with those going public.

Cerabooge: I made over 1,200 felony arrests, never shot anyone, had several who WERE armed, but proper procedures kept everyone alive. I will admit that some, like a guy beating my partner, when a situation similar to the Scott “runaway” went south, did manage to “hurt themselves” a little in the process of arresting them. But overwhelmingly, it was a matter of talking folks to jail, not shooting, or dragging them off. That IS the way the vast majority of arrests go.

^Try armed robbery, drug dealing, murder, grand theft auto, bank robbers trying to leave the state and escape police pursuit, assault and battery, sexual assault and rape, and oh, yes, driving off the road in your Winnegago.

My nephew was a Deptuty Sheriff, then with L.A.P.D. for a while, the cases he handled were very much like we handled. The difference, and the reason being a Ranger was so much more rewarding, was that he didn’t do search and rescue, or yes have the chance to talk to kids and families about the GOOD things in life, and nature, as an interpreter. He had to put up with a lot more jerks in the "cityscape’, just like in Florida cities? (Don’t eat popcorn at the movies, it can be fatal!!)

That deniers, detractors, and just plain ignorant folks seem to be stalkers, is another criminal activity out of the blogosphere, and into the real world.

Says the guy with his hand in the popcorn bag watching “Frozen” to create his own “real life” experiences? Amazing how critical those who’ve never lived a real life get with their stalking.

Sueamarlucan: glad to hear somebody say something positive, and that you have a good relationship with the folks down there as you should have. Worked with Border Patrol folks too, and Ab Taylor, who recently passed away, was one of the very best, ever.

Sue: also, any officer getting a hit on someone with a warrant outstanding, regardless the offense, is oblitated to arrest the individiual. As in the S.C. case, if the officer suspects a lack of documents indicates the car is stolen, he may pursue that, and if while he’s waiting for dispatch to get back to him on the status of the vehicle, and the driver runs, he’s got some probable cause to pursue. BUT NEVER TO SHOOT SOMEONE UNARMED IN THE BACK!! (That’s for civilians in Texas to get away with though.)
