Well, a big shot from Washington has one of the best rooms (brass bed) at the Zookman’s boarding house. I don’t know if “apple namer” is literal, but the rest is just a play on the phrase “it just came to me.”
According to Wikipedia the “Rome Beauty” apple variety is named after its place of origin, Rome Township in Ohio. But of course Mr. Zookman couldn’t look it up in Wikipedia….
