It was a lot funnier back in July of 87 when Jon was hiding in the bushes as the mailman walked up to the house. Jon jumped out of the bushes and went, “Rowrr!!” The mailman’s hat fell off as he fell back and the mail went flying.. Jon explained, “Garfield’s sick today and he asked me to fill in for him.”

It’s clear that Liz can hear Garfield’s thoughts, just like Jon can.
I think Liz’s looking disgusted because Garfield indicating Jon says mostly stupid things, reflects badly on Liz for liking him.
