    The Army was more particular than an insurance company about health questions when signing up. You couldn’t get in if you needed insurance.

    I started at $76/month as an E-0 recruit in the USAF in the spring of ‘64.

    I think it “jumped” to about $86 as an E-1 after Basic Training.
