    Actually, the first time you use “a” is in “one thousand.” A lot of people would say “one hundred and one,” but technically it’s just “one hundred one,” so no “a.”

    You could also write “a hundred.”

    But it’s an error that shouldn’t be made as one hundred one and one hundred and one have different meanings. In mathematics the word and means insert a decimal point. So one hundred and one is 100.1 not 101.
