    Actually, they’re all tortoises, and turtles are birds. But English sailors, two or three centuries ago, mixed up the French word “turtur” with the English word “turtle”.

    Handy Hint: When Shakespeare uses the word "turtle”, he is always talking about the bird. Same for the King James Bible.
