Ted’s ’toon is not far at all from the reality. MANY companies are hiring the help they need through temp agencies. YOU are employed by, and paid by the temp agency to work at the client company. Low pay, NO benefits. When you are no longer needed, you can be let go (for ANY reason) with no fuss, no notice, and no unemployment benefits. Works out good for everyone all around, except YOU.

Maybe nobody has a right to a (specific) job, but maybe we all have a right to live in an economic system which can provide decent jobs for everybody.

CEO’s are responsible to shareholders like me. However, if I were a CEO, I’d pay my staff a good wage based on their experience and merit. We all began somewhere.

No, they didn’t kill me off, but your post is very interesting. During the past 35 months, I have worked six short-term jobs through temp agencies (three). Each time, I had to sign a statement which spelled out the conditions, one of which says " Employee can be let go at any time, for any reason". However, in each case, I fulfilled the estimated time and was paid as promised. I am going to ask some questions at the Massachusetts Career Center about things you mentioned. -Thanks!

Oh the short term mentality of most of Americas National and Inter-national private corporate or stockholder controlled businesses. Profits only happen if there are many ‘new guys’ with money to spend. Put the money in the hands of the workers and they will spend it, buy businesses products, and the economy will flourish.
