Mike5 is right. There is ample evidence of Democrats being just as whimsical about local control as the cartoon suggests the Republicans are. Schools are a great example. When a school system is being innovative, trying new things, Democrats love local control. When schools want to teach intelligent design… less so.We need a strong central gov’t willing to allow states and communities to experiment with ways to make thing work better, and for that same strong central gov’t be flexible enough, not too self interested, to make the best ideas available to others for whom they might work. As long as stockshare and lobbyists have greater influence than good ideas, our nation will have to struggle to keep up with other advanced nations.Respectfully,C.
The etch-a-sketch messages sent by either pary disappear soon after elections and the millionaire career politicians continue to feather theirs nests by legislating the will of their corporate puppet masters (who actually author some of the bills).
Some of these ultra conservatives such as mdavis4183 are just internet trolls who make such vile comments about anyone to the left of Rush Limbaugh (about 80% of Americans) as being lying Communists and such. They, like Limbaugh himself, are really not worth commenting upon.
And so, the only reason I do so here, is to try to help those more moderate conservatives as well as liberals in seeing just what is happening with these extreme types of trolls.
I am actually sorry for such people, as they actually serve no real purpose in life. Of course, that will not stop me from flagging such, as they make it at least somewhat impossible to have reasonable discussions on such sites as this. And even more strangely enough are the reason why even such relatively extreme sites as FOX NEWS actually stopped their own comment sections!
Regarding the Etch – a – Sketch, isn’t that what the IRS and the EPA has been using?I really wish the govt could do “selective” firing…I bet we could save a LOT of money firing the numbskulls who do porn at work, plus the no-shows who only come to work on payday.
mikefive, Fair comment. But this particularcartoon was more a reminder of that broadpolitical hypocrisy, in this case aimed at theRepublicans in the Arkansas Legislature, Re: some legislation just passed that preventslocal authorities from passing their own anti-discrimination laws.
