Both should be in the part of the wave where all politicians are found: the trough. :-|

Notice the long board Brown’s riding? While on the crest of the wave is Cameron’s zippier, modern version.

(I guess I was the only one looking for a couple of sharks in the wave who’d mistake them for seals. :p )

It is possible to surf along bits of the British coast, but unlike Australia or Hawaii, the waters are Atlantic-cold, the days only warm for perhaps two months of the year, and, crucially, British surf beaches are situated nearby to sewage outfalls. I doubt a Californian champion can be seen surfing the water off LA and looking cool and macho - right till the moment a week-old turd (or worse) smacks into his face. You Americans perhaps have these tings better organised?

British surfers tend to complain about this, and are dissatisfied things aren’t better organised. (Some people are never content, are they).

So the question for this cartoon is - what sort of turds are in the water and about to hit Cameron and Brown in the face with a big meaty smack? Because there will be… and don’t forget as global warming proceeds, we’re also getting larger sharks and more poisonous jellyfish, never been seen efore in British home waters. So this toon could be more apposite than you’d beleive - Posh Dave cruising to victory only to by deluged in turds/great whites/Portuguese men o’war at the last minute.

Today’s turd in the water? Apparently one of our possible First Ladies, can’t remember which, has manky scaggy feet she hasn’t been taking to the chiropodist often enough. Really politically relevant, isn’t it?

EDIT - Mrs Brown has the flaky disgusting feet, apparently. But the joke is that Mrs Cameron keeps hers covered to prevent people realising she’s really got hooves….

^ ha! I was going to ask if this was off the coast of Cornwall as that’s about the only place I know where the Brits could have any half-decent surfing.

I was driving home along the A40 and the Tories have their billboards up, as well as UKIP. Appealing to the lowest common denominator already. Although I must admit I thought the Tory billboards were Labour’s because most of them have a fairly good photo of Brown on them. Lousy punctuation, too. No message about what or how they are going to do, so not convincing me to vote for them; just not to vote for Labour. Don’t know the science behind negative campagning but it doesn’t work for me.
