“True we do. But lets watch the nanni state try to use it as a means to appease the environmental wackos and try to shut it down. ”
Dude, have your political beliefs, cherish them, defend them - sure, but would it kill you to show just a little class?
From the effing fourth word on, you decide to put a political spin on a tragedy, while preemptively blaming the “Other Side” for it. Even on an event like that, you can’t pass the option to make a snide partisan remark.
what bothers me, if the talking heads can be believed, is that the inspectors don’t have the authority to shut down a place that doesn’t meet those standards, and the employeees have been afraid to refuse to go down there.
Such a loss because rules, again, were ignored in a dirty and dangerous industry is truly sad, but the press obsession with such “tragedies” in the headlines ignores that we kill this number of people EVERY DAY in this country with guns, and more with cars.
Regulations, with ENFORCEMENT CAN SAVE LIVES. What happened with “de-regulation” and removal of inspectors from their jobs should make a few wonder whether that “smaller” government for increased profits, might actually be more the threat to us all?
Flipping out because some mother can’t read the simple instructions on a baby sling may indeed be “nanny state”. Keeping miners, or others in dangerous industries alive, through actual enforcement of sound industry regulations and standards is not.
Industries have removed all the stop and yield signs in their way to profits- it’s time to put some back up, and let them do jail time instead of getting another ticket they won’t pay.
