Two squirrels are at a grocery store together. The shelves are empty and the cart being pushed by one of the squirrels is full of acorns. Squirrel 2: Don't go nuts, it's only supposed to snow an inch.

Yep. I live in Wisconsin. Every predicted snow of more than 2" causes a run on the local grocery. The store has never closed. The roads have never been impassable. They have never run out of food. I do not understand this apocalyptic thinking.

I live in the “Caribbean Hurricane Belt” and the only way people will go and buy supplies is if the Hurricane is a few hours away. There used to be runs on the store as soon as hurricane was mentioned but after a while, we learned to wait until the “watch” turned into a “warning” because hurricanes can shift. During one of my visits to Florida a few years ago, a hurricane was a week away and people were running to the store and panicking. My only worry was that I was not in my own country where houses are built to withstand category 5 hurricanes.
