The fossils get very upset when you mess with one of their own.

It’s the government’s Cold War policies that have created, trained, and armed so many of our enemies. Most of the dictators we spent large amounts of money to depose in the last 20 years are the same we previously spent a large amount of money either putting in to power or supporting after they rose to power on their own. In Iran’s case, they became an enemy after they revolted against the man we put into power there. The trade embargo against Cuba was originally put in place in protest of the man we helped seize power in Cuba. Castro was just the first in a line of dictators that bit Uncle Sam’s helping hand. He’s in good company with Noriega, Saddam, the Taliban, and bin Laden.

And to find out how serious something like that is, go to the Chicago museum of natural history (if you have a bulletproof auto) and knock one of their articulated fossils to bits. You’ll find yourself owing a great deal more than you made last decade.

Well, there goes one thing that makes Cuba great.American car nuts will flock there and buy up all the lovingly cared for 1950’s cars, and leave all the Cubans driving around in Toyotas. Sigh.

Funny thing though. Nothing’s changed on the other side. Same socialism, repression, political prisons…Of course, now we are hearing that increased tourism in Cuba will lead to reforms. But Europeans have been vacationing in Cuba for years with no effect. Mostly, it’s led to Euros and Canadians cruising the streets of Havana for underage prostitutes while the Communists turn a blind eye. But, but, but say liberals, it’ll be different if Americans go there. Why? Because they’re Americans and they’re special? Is this Obama liberalism’s version of ‘American exceptionalism’? This is the Golden Penis theory of Cuban political reform. And it’s nonsense.

One reason Castro militarized his revolution so much was that he had been warned by what had recently happened to Arbenz in Guatemala that the US was hostile to reform in Latin America and would happily intervene to prevent it. (And the lesson was taught over and over again afterwards — the Bay of Pigs, the fall of Allende in Chile, etc.) If the US had allowed reform, chances are there would have been no room for people like Castro or Chavez.

Embargoes only work if others back it were the only one embargoing if you have a yacht you can fake it and vacation there or go to Mexico or canada get a plane and enjoy Cubans dont stamp you passport. Insanity doing the samething over and over and expecting a different result most of old refuges were Battista regime members who werent any better than castro except he was our dictator

Ah, yes, all those weapons Iran got from Mr. Tough Guy Reagan. The murder of Allende, and others, so right wing homicidal dictators could rule, our policies have been so positive, NOT!

“How many political opponents did the communists kill instead of elections when they won the revolution?Thousands?”Why does that matter to the US when it comes to Cuba, but not when it comes to any of our allies? The US doesn’t care about the human rights abuses of our allies as long as they’re remain loyal and useful.
