Sorry, but I’m thinking of the white police seargent in Portland, OR, hugging the black kid on the street, far more representative or the vast majority of the police I’ve worked with, or known. Yes, there are some bad folks in every profession, like well football comes to mind, or lawyers, judges, doctors, and a far greater percentage of “media types”… bleed it leads, yep, ethics.

^^^^. Wow!!!Nice to see a liberal on here disagree with a liberal toon.Somehow people think cops aren’t regular people with wives, sons, daughter and parents just like the rest of us.The last thing a cop wants to have to do(for many reasons) is shoot somebody.

I don’t doubt that there are police who show compassion for people. So, where are they when a cop goes on a rampage? ….. crickets….. (if not fiercely defending them)

That makes them accessories after the fact.

The problem is the police support of the “bad apples” minority in their ranks. They are the ones who get killed in the line of duty. Omerta is a criminal doctrine (Mafia), and the majority of otherwise responsible police should stop practicing it.

^^comicsfan; an element folks don’t address much is that if you can’t get qualified folks to apply for jobs in law enforcement, you can’t hire them. In many areas of the country that makes getting a “proper” ethnic mix difficult to impossile.

Getting the right mental mix for good cops is even more difficult. Police work draws “authoritarian” and “conservative” types to begin with, that’s just a fact. “Bad guys” often get aggressive, and that requires “firm”, but measured response the bad guys don’t have to consider, and that’s what makes the job even more difficult in dealing with a public that sees only limited after-effects of extreme cases.

Good cops must consider their actions at all times, and think before they act. The media, and publics they’re playing to, don’t.

Just a note; the guy in NY was violating the law, apparently a misdemeanor. How DO YOU bring about the arrest on a guy resistitng, and bigger than three officers put together?

The autopsy said he died of compression of the chest associated with asthma and morbid obesity, NOT the “choke hold” (though it should not per protocols have been used). You can NOT indict a person for murder (premeditated) because he died an hour AFTER you arrested him, and it was NOT a result of the choke hold, rather his own physical condition, that complicated the efforts of four other officers to restrain him?? Know the LAW!

Yes, as Obama said, ALL Americans deserve equal treatement under the law and discrimination is wrong, and he will do what he can to bring us back on track.

IF you want to commit a crime (even a misdemeanor) and resist arrest, be you white, brown, green or black, expect to be arrested!

Zimmerman MURDRED Trayvon Martin; period. (pursuit equalled “premeditiation”, along with his gun, and being told “you don’t need to do that” with regard to following (hunting) the kid.)

One of my good associates, a 7’2" BLACK officer, saved my bacon, and we arrested the nastiest SOB you can imagine (9 homicide warrants, including four cops). I believe ALL people in this country ARE equal- that includes “bad guys” and well, idiots. (often the same thing.)

I’m equally enraged by “liberal” and “conservative” idiots in the media (Ruah and Sharpton are equals)! Where the H do people get off ignoring the EVIDENCE?

Over 12 million arrests a year in the U.S.. Let’s get all the cops off the streets so we don’t interfere with any criminals’ lives.
