Fortunately he is prepared to take meaningful action on a long-run, ongoing problem when others would rather not or are incapable.

I’m of two minds on this myself. As far as immigration…yeah they’re here illegally. But they’re here. It will probably cost more to round them up (assuming that was actually possible), deport them, and keep them from coming in than it would to work on making them citizens. Or at least giving them work visas. As far as Obama…I can give him credit for this only. If he’s a lame duck and he doesn’t care about how the fallout will affect Hillary, why not go out swinging? However, he really is helping to set a dangerous precedent. I get that Congress is broken. But this isn’t the way to fix it. And it’s not the way to resolve issues in the long term. Anything he does with this approach is just going to get torn down. And we’ll be in a worse position than when we started.

Our history or illegally invading the native Americans, stealing their land, killing many, putting the rest on reservations and destroying their culture gives us little right to complain if others want to live here too.

    > What the hell is the US of A about if ONE GUY disallows a straight up or down VOTE on the Country’s legitimate business?

You talking about Harry Reid, right?

Major opponent to immigration reform: Ted Cruz, “Cuban American”, born in Calgary, Canada. Does anyone see anything hypocritical in this??? Can anyone see and say, “bigot”?

Redman, MY family on my mom’s side had legal residency here some 12,000 years ago, and my dad’s side came here BY 1816 (records back then weren’t all that complete, but some came in the 1700’s.).

Xenophobic bigots ignoring Reagan’s among other Republican EOs on “immigration” have reached a level too low to even consider that any “intellect” is involved in their argument about “kings”. They are intellectually impoverished, and can forget any chance of rising to “princely” status.

The issue is not immigration; it is about illegal entry, remaining secretly under the radar, being given driver’s licenses and other benefits, and taking under-the-table jobs and paying no taxes. Pres. Obama’s plan simply amounts to another amnesty, and putting the word out to “keep coming!”This is not bigotry. Simply get in line like everyone else, apply, and await your turn. It really makes those who do come here through the process “chumps”!

^Obama rightfully noted that Poland, Ukraine, Germany, and other countries have also provided us with “unregistered”, not all speak Spanish. I agree people should come here legally, and that includes “guest workers” who aren’t actually taking away high paying jobs Americans have been filliing in engineering, chemistry, and other highly trained positions.

That’s actually painted on the wall over the desk from back in the days when Bush sat there.

So gypsy8, the law doesn’t matter, what matters is “substance”(i.e., your position). Reminds me of the liberal woman who told Bill Buckley that the “quality” of votes should count, not the quantity.
