Well, that’s been true for a long time in the literature, going back at least to 1955, when Fredric Brown’s ultra-short story “Blood” first appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction; I have it anthologized in Judith Merril, ed., Off the Beaten Orbit (Pyramid Books, N.Y., 1959). It’s only about a page-and-a-half long, and well worth the minute or two it takes to read. All about vampires and turnips….
