Indeed. In one strip he shows that he isn’t afraid of snakes (by being friendly with one) despite his fear of spiders. Then the snake gobbles him down (“NOW snakes scare me”). If anything, the snake in this strip would be the one making the burgers.

There was also an earlier, similar strip where Garfield does this sort of thing with Jon and Odie. Then Jon tells him that there’s a spider on his belly, with Garfield walking away in disbelief, unaware that there really is a spider crawling up his belly.

If only if Jon recalled that one here.
