The real issue is that the CDC acted rashly and arrogantly in the face of a very real threat. Then, when it blew up they started back pedaling and pointing fingers at anybody but themselves as to why this failed.
Don’t get me wrong…We need the CDC. But we need them to act with the best interest of the US citizens (their employers) first and then worry about their research projects and helping the world.

REPUBLCAN “pet projects” in all agencies, for a couple decades now is CONTRACTING, that replaces actual employees with materials, or “services” that can, and do, often cost 2-3 times what having actual federal employees do the jobs would cost. Some agencies did legitimate studies that showed contracting had limited potential, Congresspersons WROTE INTO LEGISLATION how many agencies MUST spend their funds, micromanaging, especially since Obama came in, and compromising Executive Branch responsibilities, and prerogatives under the Constitution. But “conservatives” don’t know, or care about it, ‘cause "it’s complicated".
This just shows your abysmal ignorance with the budget. THERE HAVE BEEN NO BUDGET CUTS. The budget has increased every year. If you have any interest on where the money goes, check the CDC web site.
