new clothes?! I was wearing 10 year old hand me downs until I started university. it really sucked having brothers 10 and 12 years older as anything they wouldn’t wear was saved for me. I dressed like the cast of the Brady Bunch when I was in high school in 1989
I wore my sister’s hand-me-downs for years. She was three years older than me. Fortunately for me, it stopped when I started 7th grade. I grew 6 inches that summer to 5’8" and my sister, who is 3 years older than me is barely 5’3". We were both glad we didn’t have to share a wardrobe! Back in the mini-skirt era, what was a mini skirt on her was obscene on me! I started sewing all my own clothes after that. It used to be a lot cheaper to make your own clothes than to buy them. That is no longer the case with the advent of cheap clothes from China.
