As a young boy, my bike was my first form of independence. In the summer, I went everywhere with it. If Dean lived on my street, I woulda fixed Mike in a heartbeat.

Of course. That’s what you do. Try to make or keep your neighbourhood a good place to live !

In a similar expierence, I saluted an old baseball cap that was of my birthtown’s high school after I threw it in the trash. Although I didn’t attend that high school (I was in a different one in a diffeent town in a different county in the same state), I bought myself a new one [with a T-shirt in the same package] a few weeks ago. The old cap was, like, 20+ years old.

Bikes break, go downhill and end up being ditched. Recycle, to recycle a joke. Dean is the little nerd that could. He’ll get right back on the bike saddle again.

I only had one faithful bicycle my whole childhood. When I was a teenager, though, I painted it fluorescent red and made a chopper out of it. That was an ill-deserved fate. I’d probably still have it if I hadn’t done that.

This whole episode reminds me of someone I used to see on my commute on the way home from work. He had a vest with reflective tape which spelled, “MIKE ON HIS BIKE.”

Hey, I don’t see Liberty Place or the Comcast tower in the skyline.
