Obama has nothing to do with the postal service lack of remaining competitive in a growing technological world.

We have come a long way from the pony express. Unfortunately, unions successfully negotiated, too successful, that the service people and retirees are guaranteed money that doesn’t exist.

Electronic payments, Federal Espress, UPS, competition that is winning the delivery war, leaving a shrinking pool of people paying for service, so the rates go up…………….

… I like ANandy’s skewed history… The Federal Government has been providing postal services since before there even was a Federal Government… One can argue that making the Postal Service a corporate entity was the beginning of its troubles. Now, they give huge breaks to 3rd class mail delivery (consider the labor involved in getting all those supermarket coupons in your mailbox several times a week!). First class mail declines due to electronic communications media (nobody knows how to write a real letter any more). And there aren’t enough stamp collectors to sell all those cool stamps to anymore. But a postal service, one could argue, is as fundamental to the running of the country as defense.
