Good morning, vagabonds. There was an ugly overcast yesterday, but the supermarket in walking distance from me had things on sale that I needed, so when the sun shone through I took my shopping cart and bought 4 64 oz bottles of apple juice and 2 10 pound bags of kitty litter, among other things, Whenever I return home from local shopping I look at the clock and at the time on my receipt to see how long it took me to walk home. It was a 24-minute walk! Years ago it would have been only 10 minutes. I was thoroughly exhausted and asked my roommate’s brother to put the stuff away. Why I didn’t ask him to shop?: he had just come from school; he wouldn’t know what to buy and he wouldn’t be able to pay for the stuff as he has no credit card. Anyway, it’s my exerize (sp?) to keep me from becoming a vegetable.

Rita, apropos to your question yesterday: Public transportation in New York is better. In Miami the buses are so infrequent that I spend more time waiting for a bus than traveling in it once it arrives. The advantage of Miami is it’s not necessary to climb long flights of stairs to reach a train. My mistake on Monday was that I went to two different stores, each far away from the other and, although I have a good idea of how the bus routes in the Bronx run, I made the wrong choice of bus routes.

    Good Morning All Vagabonds,

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAN!!!

So, where are you going for dinner tonight?

I’ll bake my world famous chocolate/chocolate birthday cake, and it’ll be ready for the whole gang around 8 p.m. Glad you found out about that stove burner before we light the candles!

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Thank you for the birthday greetings.

Rita, we are postponing my birthday dinner until tomorrow night and will go to Lawry’s on Flamingo near the Strip. Yes, it is the Lawry’s that originated the “seasoned salt”. It is one of my favorite places and they serve the best prime rib anywhere. We used to go to the one in Beverly Hills (the original) but the one here in Vegas is just as good.

I plan on going shopping today. Michael even told me to have fun doing so.

The weather is warming up and will stay in the mid 90’s for at least a week. Now I can close up again.

Well, we made it home. The Oachitas are beautiful! That’s pronounced Wash-i-taw.

And tomorrow is my birthday! Whee!
