32 to 56 killed in “fatal unintended accelleration incidents” involving Toyotas in 10 years. In that same time in America- 320,000 killed by guns (1/2 “accidents” or suicide), 430,000 killed in “normal” auto accidents- 1/2 by drunk drivers. Yesterday my son came to the aid of an 83 year old woman who lost control, mowed down 150 feet of fence, two steel pipe barricades, and a tree- IN HER OLDSMOBILE!!
Maybe it’s time to recall gun nuts, drunks, and just plain stupid or terrible drivers?
many years ago i witnessed a wreck - a man had a heart attack while driving - he couldn’t unbend his knee to cut acceleration and he ran right into a house
then a few years ago, an old fellow - 93 - insisted on driving - with a similar difficulty backed from his driveway right into the house across the street - next to mine!
this to say, it would be difficult to believe that all 32 to 56 killed in “fatal unintended accelleration incidents” were necessarily toyota-gas-pedal related and there have certainly been similar incidents with other cars
