It’s a pretty conservative bill, actually – it says more about the true “Party of No” attitude of the Republicans that voted against it than it says about the content of the bill.
Economists on BOTH political sides have said the only problem with the “stimulus” was it being too small, but it IS WORKING! Now the gray beasts have voted FOR a jobs bill.
“Jobs bill”…pretty sure the whole point of conservatism is to let the economic engine do its thing, and let the political spectrum do its thing….fascism is the correct term for a government that controls the “jobs” market. Private-public partnerships = fascism. Look it up…

Technically, HabaneroBuck, that might be more of a libertarian thing. Conservatism is more of a “traditional values” outlook, and it does not necessarily imply a fixed economic viewpoint - a Russian, German and American conservative might have very different ideas about what the role of the state in the market should be.
And if public-private interaction was fascism, then pretty much every president from FDR until Carter was a fascist. I didn’t know the axis won ;) . Historically, yes, Mussolini had public-private partnerships (and was a firm believer in corporatism), but so did nearly every country at the time, except probably the USSR - they didn’t have any private business to partner with.
Well, I guess that while the CBO considered the stimulus to have resulted in a lot of jobs being created/kept, you know better, right?

ANDANDY – First you scream that the problem is that we need to create more jobs, then you scream that it’s going to cost money.
If Cheney/Bush were in still in charge you would be so happy, everything would so fine, it would be 2008 all over again.
