During Sadam’s regime things went relatively well for Christians, which was odd for someone that actively sponsored terrorism. Things were dicey immediately after the “liberation”, got better over time (coinciding with the stabilization of the country) only now to get worse since the country is becoming unstable again.

“The surge worked, and under GW and afterward the Middle East was relatively stable. Leave it to Obama to make all the mistakes that were made after WW1, As a direct result of Obama non policy, lead from behind and supporting things like the Brotherhood in Egypt during their lost year, We get what we have today!”--The cries of “but but but but but buuuush” are especially ironic given that President Obama took CREDIT for the state of Iraq at the time that he withdrew our forces from the region. We later discovered that he had mentally checked himself out of the region as well, dismissing warnings about ISIS and the deterioration of Iraq’s political situation.

Varvel must have missed the funeral for that Christian lady last week in Gaza. Nah, just too inconvenient to mention that Christians live in Gaza, not just Muslims.

I know I am not totally right here, but I remember well after 9-11 when a few American Muslims tried to organize a rally in D.C. to show their support of their host United States. Very few (about 50, I think) showed up. Too many times I read about more radicalization, more Imams preaching Jihad against the West, the U.S. in particular, I hear about more Web sites instructing followers how to make bombs and how to deploy them. I recently saw a U-tube with Islamics DESTROYING a British Cemetery in North Africa, hauling down the Christian cross, smashing the tombstones of British soldiers who drove the Germans out of their country.I have not read about any Imam calling for peace, for co-existence, or, Allah forbid, FORGIVENESS!

After the Iranian revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini held quick trials against thousands of his own people; ALL were sentenced to death. He himself went up on the roof where the executions were being carried out to watch. One of the other Imams asked him once that some of these men might be innocent, that perhaps they should not be so swift in passing judgements. The Ayatollah replied “Then they are martyrs to the revolution, and will have great reward” His tomb in Teheran is visited by hundreds daily, and he is revered in Iran. And he calls the U.S. the Great Satan!

I think it was a mistake for the U.S. to have supported the U.N. resolution, in 1946, calling for the establishment of the state of Israel. It has cost us dearly ever since. BUT, the promise being made, we cannot walk away. If we did, I believe every surrounding Islamic state would descend upon the Israelis and butcher every last one, egged on by Iran.

    I don’t trust them.

Wouldn’t have happened under Clinton. Iraq was kept stable with air cover that kept Hussein under control, until the Cheney presidency, when all Hell was set loose in the interests of profiteering.

To Martens… None of us here are experts on anything, and most of us know it. We can only go by what we are given to read, or what is allowed for us to see & hear. There usually are factors which remain hidden from view: secret agendas, embarrassing facts or legitimately with-held info due to on-going talks or battles. Yet, if the citizenry does not make itself heard, make their views & thoughts known, then the Oligarchs rule absolutely. (As if they are not currently doing so!)

I know I am guilty of holding ALL islamics in contempt. But I have read about growing Islamic radicalism long before 9-11. Once before, here on GC, I posted about how, throughout history, peoples, nations begin to coalesce into a higher sense of destiny. The Romans, the Mongols, the Spanish, French, British,Germans and Americans came to a point in their time they felt that their hour had arrived, that they were destined to rule. I see Islam as the current “victim” of this malignant mentality. All the 9-11 highjackers were living in the U.S. for a time: peaceful, nice neighbors. Until the moment came to die for Allah.

The French, under Napolean, brought great hardship and slaughter throughout Europe since their Revolution until Waterloo. The Germans brought unprecedented slaughter to millions in two horrendous wars. I fear these may be dwarfed in the current century if Islamic radicalism continues.

At least the French, Germans, et al wanted to conquer and rule. Islam will willingly bring down everyone on earth, while crying “Allah is great!”

I may be wrong. I hope I am. And, I am not trying to convince you, or anyone else, about my suspicions, but only to explain how I came to feel this way.

Wow. You really know how to justify being a completely ignorant bigot, Mangey!.You should put that kind of effort into actually learning something instead of just finding ways to back up your prejudices. You really think Muslims in, say, Surinam, believe that? And that the 9/11 hijackers were permanent residents of the US? Sounds like you did a lot of reading to come away so foolish.

What facts about President Obama’s mishandling of Iraq have been discredited? The situation in Iraq was stable in 2008 when President Bush left office. Three years later President Obama acknowledged this fact when he and his Vice President declared victory in Iraq (and took credit for its stable condition).-Now that Iraq has fallen into chaos due to an uprising by a groups that President Obama dismissed as the “J.V. team” the President’s supporters need to pretend that these attacks were inevitable the moment that Saddam Hussein was removed from power. They do not seem to realize that this defense makes President Obama and Vice-President Biden incompetent blowhards who talk big but are incapable of effective action.
